Tidy Up Miss Grace
January 25th, @11am Our 4.3' sculptural beauty 'Miss Grace' dawn redwood has been a focal point of the Tree & Shrub Department for the last fifteen years, and she's in need of a good trim! Come sit in as we demo: removing the 200-gallon planter, pruning the roots, assessing her overall health, and getting her replanted and ready to thrive for years to come. The techniques we'll demonstrate are applicable to other container plantings like Japanese Maples, Camellias, and more. Questions welcome!

Create a living sculpture for your garden, weaving 30 willow rods (local, ethically harvested Salix purpurea) into a Harlequin Topiary that will start out as sticks, then root and burst forth with foliage come spring time. With sun, lots of water and a yearly haircut, your willow will grow into a shapely standard, with an amazing interwoven bark texture, in a pot or in the ground.
