Help! I’m in Dursban Withdrawal!

Yes, Dursban is no longer available and Diazinon is set to go away, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. There are new products that will do an effective job with far less toxicity. This spring look for Bayer Advanced Tree & Shrub Care™, a systemic effective against root weevils and aphids in ornamentals. It also comes in a granular form for lawn use, which has shown promising results against crane flies.

Another new product is a reformulation of Rose Defense™ called (originally) Rose Defense II™. It combines a natural pyrethrum with Neem oil for a more effective insect and disease combination.

We all know how much squirrels love bulbs. Repellex has come out with a great product, Bulb Saver™, to solve this problem. Bulb Saver™ comes in both a tablet form and a concentrate to be used as a dip. A combination of animal blood and capsicum, it’s an easy and nontoxic way to keep those critters at bay.
