Make a Date with Mom for Mother's Day
The best gift you can give a loved one is quality time... and for a garden-lover, a garden tour or sale is the finest quality time there is! If your mother loves Northwest natives (and she lives here, doesn't she?), there are few better garden destinations than the Kruckeberg Botanic Garden a few miles straight downhill from Sky Nursery. Mareen and Arthur Kruckeberg assembled their four-acre collection over a lifetime; it is dominated by the native plants they both loved, but enriched with rarities from around the world. The city of Shoreline has recently purchased the property to maintain it as a Botanic Garden in perpetuity.
You can sign up for docent-guided tours through either the Shoreline or Edmonds Parks and Recreation Departments, or groups of 6-15 can arrange their own. Or you can just bring Mom to wander the paths with you Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays from 10 am – 5 pm. Finally, they have a big plant sale Mother's Day weekend, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm, Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm. Shuttle parking is available during the sale. For more information, check their website or call (206) 546-1281.
